NAME:Andrew Miller
Looking for any relatives of the GASS / LYONS families of Macomb County. My
grandmother, Betty Ann (Lyons) Miller, is the daughter of Robert Lyons.
Robert was born in Davis, Michigan on June 3, 1902. He died on July 6, 1970.
Robert's parents were Lawson Lyons and Alice Stafford. The Staffords were
from Nebraska but, I know very little about them. Lawson's father was Elias
Lyons and Harriet Gass. Lawson Lyons was born in 1858, in Davis, Michigan.
Elias Lyons, along with two other brothers, William and Stanford, married
into the Gass family while the Gass family was still living in Greene
County, New York. In the 1830's the Gass family moved from New York to
Macomb County, Michigan, settling in Brooklyn, (later named Davis). The
Lyons family in New York is quite huge and this relative/researcher hasn't
found much relating the three Lyons relatives with any of their New York
kin. But, I will be making trips up to Greene County this summer to go
through the cemeteries and find the missing clues.
The Gass family roots are
very strong in Macomb County and most people who have lived in Macomb for
some time have roots with the Gass family. Most of the Gass/Lyons kin are
buried in the Davis Cemetery in Davis, Michigan. Some are buried in other
various cemeteries such as Mt. Vernon and Romeo cemeteries. Robert Lyons and
his wife, Lenore (Heppner) Lyons, are buried in White Chapel Cemetery in
Royal Oak, Michigan and Alice Stafford's grave has yet to be found. She is
not buried with Lawson in Davis. Throughout this website you can find Gass
relatives.
My name is Andrew Miller. I live in Fishkill, Dutchess County,
New York, which is two counties below Greene County and about 50 miles from
New York City. My grandmother has lived in Romeo, Michigan her whole life
and still resides there. I moved out here with my parents in the late
1980's. If any relative reads this, feel free to email and we will talk
about how we are related.

Mary Elizabeth. One was a son Joseph Henry. I am related through Mary Elizabeth. I don't know too much about them. I believe that Celia Joy was born in Free Soil, Michigan in 1820. I am looking for any info on August KERNER (1843-1898) who was married
to Bertha STOLDT. They lived on a farm on Canal Rd. near the end of Saal
Rd. in Sterling Twp. I know when he immigrated (also the ship that he
sailed on), when and where he was married, his children`s names and
births, who the godparents were for his children and that his wife sold
their farm to William and Fredricka (Liebenow) Kerner after August
passed away. Bertha then moved to Detroit. According to Macomb Co. death
records August`s parents were James Kerner and Mary Peters. My great,
great grandparents, Freidrich and Amalia (Gust) Kerner, were godparents
for some of August`s children. Also, Friedrich Kerner stood up in
August`s wedding. With all of the info that I have on August, I still
haven`t been able to find out what the relationship between Friedrich
and August was. I`m thinking that Friedrich may have been August`s
uncle. Friedrich was 20 years older than August. August immigrated
(alone) 15 years after Friedrich. Anyway, August obviously knew my
Kerner family and apparently he also knew the William Kerner family. I`m
also trying to find out if he had any relationship to the William Kerner
family, and if so, what it was.

I`m looking for any info on John KERNER that immigrated in 1871 and
lived in Waldenburg. His wife was Wilhelmine Otillie Amanda WILCKE. I
know quite a bit about his family but I don`t know what the relationship
was to my great, great grandfather, Friedrich Kerner. I`m thinking that
they were possibly brothers, as John was about 3 years older than
Friedrich. According to Clinton Grove Cemetery`s records John`s wife is
probably buried in an unmarked grave on Friedrich Kerner`s family plot.
I haven`t been able to find out when John passed away or where he is
buried. I`m also trying to find out if John`s wife was Friedrich
Wilcke`s sister. I know a little bit about Friedrich Wilcke, who was a
great, great grandfather to me, but not a lot yet. John`s son, August F.
Kerner (1855-1928), shares a plot in Clinton Grove Cemetery with
Friedrich Wilcke. I would be happy to share any info I have.

I`m wondering if anyone knows if the surname MOIVES was changed to
MAVIS? The Zion Church records has Friedrich GUST (Just) being married
to Emilie Moives and also other Moives family members as godparents to
their children. My great, great granmother was Amalia (Gust, Just)
Kerner and I`m assuming that Friedrich Gust was her brother or maybe a
cousin, not exatly sure yet. Anyway, I can`t find the name Moives on any
of the old Maomb Co. plat maps, but I can find Mavis. I have also found
records that have Auguste Moives marrying a Kandt, but when I look in
the Clinton Grove Cemetery records it has her listed as Auguste (Mavis)
Kandt, so that`s why I`m thinking that the name was changed. Any help
appreciated. Thanks.

Yesterday I received the death certificate for my wife's aunt who has been "missing" from the family for nearly 50 years. She died 16 Nov 1996 in Warren, Macomb, Michigan, and her residence at the time was 8444 Engleman in Center Line, Michigan. At the time of her death she was Frances MALINOWSKI, a widow, born 3 Nov 1917 in Logan, UT. The death certificate says father was Francis BERENGER, but it should be BERGENER. Mother was given as Margaret LARSON, but it should be Maggie LARSEN. As we have been searching for her for all these many years we do not know when or where she married Mr. MALINOWSKI. We also do not know his name. If there is anyone who is related to the MALINOWSKI family and can help us find out who her husband was, information of his birth and death, and information about their marriage, we would be ever so grateful to finally learn more about this woman who disappeared from our family.
Thanks in advance,

I am interested in the following surnames:
Surname: Rose
Given Names: Emil or Ida
(Sachsen) Saxony To Macomb Co, MI (1870 Census)
Surname: Prell
Given Names: Frederick, Mary, August(us), Fredericka
Prussia to New York (1860 Census, Niagara Co) to Macomb Co, Michigan by 1870 census.
Surname: Williams
Given Names: Isaac
Prussia to Macomb Co, Michigan There is an Isaac Williams age 16 listed as a boarder/laborer in a household in 1860. about the right age. Isaac was on the 1870 Macomb census as was his father, John Williams.
Above are the Macomb surnames that I am hoping to find more information on regarding locations in Saxony and Prussia they came from and who the parents of Ida and Emil Rose are. One of the history books on Macomb County states that Isaac Williams and his wife Fredericka Prell were born in the same town in Prussia. However it doesn't tell us what town.

I am looking for information about the MILLER family from the Richmond area. The two names that I know of are John Miller and Wilbert Miller. Address I have from my mothers address book for John is 74591 Mackey Road and for Wilbert was 2835 Mackey Road. Willbert later moved to 8283 Norman in Avoca. I believe that they were brothers or maybe father/son. I also believe that one of them, if not both, were cousins of my grandmother Mabel (Miller) EICHBAUER, whose parents were August and Minna (Nank) Miller. I believe that they also came from the Richmond area but then moved to Detroit. The Millers emmigrated from
Germany and most likely were originally Mueller rather than the
Americanized Miller. I am also looking for information on the Nank
family and believe that they were originally from the Mt. Clemens area.

I'm researching the maternal lines of my family. I have been looking for what happened to Lucinda LEECH/LEACH, the last record that I have of her is in the 1850 census. She is 16 years old & enumerated with her mother & step-father, Clarissa & David Dice. I don't have an exact dob for Lucinda, but from the census info she would have born ca. 1834.
While doing a wildcard search of the 1870 Macomb Co. census I came across a Lucinda HARRIS who at the time of the census was 36 years old, head of the household, & located in Clinton Twp.. She is enumerated with George C. Harris, 18 years old & Walter Harris, 16 years old. The age does fit with my Lucinda Leech/Leach.
Do you have any info. on Lucinda Harris that you would like to share?
Thank you,

Both Lewis and Charles are noted as being born in CT. Other children of Charles W: Chloe (buried Richards), Emily R, Emory (buried Richards), and Andrew M (buried Richards). Did Emily marry?
Is the Urilla SEELEY in the GENDIS database, who died 23 Oct 1871 in Ray Township, age 58years, 1 month, and 4 days, the same as Amelia/Aurillia?
Who were the parents of Charles W. SEELEY?

My wife's Great Grandfather was George Nelson STONE, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 13 April 1844. He married Mary S. HEWITT, b. 17 April 1847 in or around Memphis, Michigan. Six of their children were born in the Memphis area, in either Macomb or St. Clair County, which we do not know. Mary S. Hewitt was likely born in Riley Township, St. Clair County, Michigan. We have no birth records, marriage records, or death records on any of the persons mentioned. The children born there were: Richard Elmer, William Willard, George Anson, Fred Charles, Alfred James and Mary Ellen Stone. They may have left for Nebraska about 1884 as they homesteaded in Cuming County, Nebraska about that time. Death records are unlikely in Michigan, however, birth records and marriage records would be of great help. They may have married around 1863. Can anyone help us find some paper trail on these folks?

I am searching for the family of John Crawford and John M. Crawford. I believe that John, the Patriot, was the grandfather of John M. Crawford. Robert Crawford, son of John Crawford, lived in Oakland. John M. was the son of Robert Crawford and Polly Mosher/Mosier.
All of this Crawford family came from NY. John M. Crawford married Polly (Mary) Miller in Macomb 1832. Her family also came from NY. I am not sure who her parents were but believe that her father might have been F. W. Miller listed in Ray history as owning a mill.
After the death of John M. Crawford, Norman Crawford sold the Mill at Ray to the Wolcott family. Norman and his mother Mary Crawford moved to NE to live on the farm where the Wolcotts had lived. The younger son of John M. Crawford, Albert W. , had married Esther Tappan of St Clair and moved to Reynolds NE. After Albert died, Norman moved to NE and married his brothers widow, Esther.

1861/6/7: In Probate file 342, Roll 6 is found the following record: June 7 1861 Jacob A Hunt states that he is the son of Hannah Hunt who is upward of the age of 77 and because of her age and other causes she is mentally incompetent to take care of her affairs and requests a guardian be appointed for her.

KERNER. She emigrated to America from Prussia in 1871, July, along with her
family, parents Johan and Wilhelmine. They sailed from Stettin Prussia to NY
and apparently later settled in Macomb County. The children were Otilia,
August, Albert, Wilhelm and Hermine. Much of the family later migrated West to
Sonoma California. But I believe Wilhelmine (Minnie) died in Macomb and was
buried there. I am wondering if any of your Kerner research involves this
family. Any information would be so appreciated. I have been in touch with a
man in Germany who has the departing manifests for that crossing and the family
is said to be of "Garz an der Oder". If I can help you in any way I would be
most happy to do so. My great grandmother, by the way, stayed in NY (or went
back there) and married Philipp ZIEGLER, my great grandfather. Thanks in
advance.

I am searching for information on the parents, siblings or cousins of John C. GOULD. He is my G G Grandfather. He was born in Michigan about 1832. The first record I have of him is his marriage in Armada in 1858. He married Sarah HART. They were married by Pastor GW Indson. They lived in Armada in the 1860 and 1870 census. They had one son named Vivaldo William who was born in 1862. He went by the name "Val" and later William V. They may have had a daughter who died young and whose name was Julene. He bought and sold land in Armada in 1863 and 1871. The family later moved to Detroit where Sarah died Nov. 11, 1911. John was still alive when she died and I cannot locate any death records for him. Her death cert states that she is buried in Armada. He may be related to Joseph, Sabin, Thomas and Rascellas Gould of Berlin, St. Clair, Mich.
Any help or information would be enormously appreciated.

Am searching for any information on Gurden Parks BAIRD, my maternal great-grandfather, of Bruce Township, born 1838. His father (name unknown) died when he was a child; Gurden and his mother (name unknown) moved to Grand Rapids, where I believe she remarried and had more children (RICHMOND?). Gurden returned to Macomb County as an adult and married Mary Eleanor BEAGLE just before he left for service in the Civil War. The Gurden Bairds eventually went to Kansas as part of a colony. What little information I have gives Bruce, Romeo, and Washington townships as addresses for the Bairds and/or Beagles. Any information on either family would be greatly appreciated!

Seeking maiden name of Elisabeth born circa 1834 in Hesse, Germany who wed George PRESSEL born circa 1831 in Saxony, Germany. They have wed by at least 1856 (their daughter Mary C is born in 1857 in Erin, Macomb Co, Michigan). On the 1860 census living with George and Elisabeth are a couple I think are her parents: Bernard OPPAR born abt 1808 and Catherine OPPAR born abt 1810 both born Hesse, Germany.
George and Elisabeth had a large family and on the LDS familysearch I found many IGI records giving her maiden name as UPHOID, UPFER, OPSER, OOPFEL, UPPER, etc
My family connection is remote -- George and Elisabeth's son Friedrich/Frederick wed Mary Maria HOUGHTON and their son Lester A. PRESSEL born 2 May 1887 wed Clara W. Goettsche/Guettsche, a sister to John GUETTSCHE who was the father of Chester "Chet" who wed my cousin Grace Pauline ANNADOWN.
