My great-grandfather William Warren FIRMAN, according to a daughter's
birth certificate, was born in Macomb County MI about 1853/54. He lived
most of his life in Lapeer County, marrying Alice Mae SWEET of Lapeer
City. He may have been related to other FIRMANs who migrated up the
Lake Huron shore line to Lexington and Harbor Beach (then Sand Beach).
One such may have been George FIRMAN, born Sand Beach about 1860. As
there are various spellings found in public records, I'd be interested
in hearing from anyone who believes their information may apply to a
William Warren, with any of these spellings: F(E/I/U)RMAN. Thanks,

I'm seeking the gravesites of my great-grandfather and his father,
both supposed to be in the Roseville and/or Utica areas of Macomb County.
My great-grandfather's name was August HARTLEB, although the family name
has also been spelled HARTLEP, HARTLEPP, HARTLIEB and HARTLIB.
Unfortunately, I don't know August HARTLEB's father's name, but it
may have been Theodore, Henry, or August (his son's first names).
August HARTLEB was born in Schwarzburg, Prussia, about 1846, and
died some time between 1885 & 1888 in either Roseville or Wayne County;
his body was supposedly buried near that of his father.
I can locate August HARTLEB through U.S. Census records for 1860 &
1870; both show him living in Macomb County, Town of Erin. The Post
Office, however, is indicated as Utica in 1860, but Roseville for 1870.
Perhaps the Post Office districting changed during those 10 years?
Most likely, the HARTLEBs were buried in Lutheran or Methodist
cemeteries, although I've also seen their church called the Evangelical
Church. In case it helps, August's mother's name was Dorthea Louisa
HARTLEB; she remarried in 1866, to John Christian SCHAAK.
Thanks very much for any information on my relatives. I have
additional information available for anyone interested. Please visit my Homepage!

Seeking marriage date and place for Mary Alice (Alice Mary) CRYDERMAN of Armada Twp. and Jason W. JACKMAN. Married 1870ish; Am also seeking birth dates for two of their four children.
They had two daughters named Sarah M Jackman; one born 21 Feb 1871;
the other born about 1875; Why both had the same first name I don't know. The older one called Myrtle on census records; the younger one died in 1879 at age 4 and never appeared on a census record. What was the younger one's birth date and middle name?
The other two children were, Iva Sophia and Russell. Iva born April 8, 1872; Russell born after her but before the younger Sarah mentioned above. I need Russell's birth date too.

My maiden name is PRINGNITZ and I am researching the family. They came
over from the Mecklenburg area of Germany in November of 1869 and
settled in the Romeo and Mt. Clemens area. My great grandfather,
Wilhelm Friedrich Johann Pringnitz was only 17 at the time. He later
married Dora Dopp and they had 12 children, some of whom were born in
Davis. I understand they bought a farm in Davis in 1885 on Romeo Plank
and 27 Mile Road. I would like to know if there is any information on
them from 1869 to 1885. They sold the farm in 1904 to the Wangelin
family. I was in touch with Bill Wangelin a while back, but haven't
gotten an answer on the last couple of letters I had written to him. He
is the church historian for St. Peter Lutheran Church in Macomb. I am
also trying to find out what happened to the family from 1904 until 1932
when my great grandfather died.
Also is there any information available on the Friedrich DOPP and
Friedrich WITT families. I am most interested in the Dopp family and if
there are any relatives still in the area whom I could contact.
I would be interested in the census reports of the years outlined above
if available on these families, or any other records that might give
more specific information on them. We are missing a lot of details that
might help us to trace the family back further.
There is also some confusion on my great great grandfather, Johann
Christoph Friedrich Pringnitz. I am trying to find out if he and his
wife had other children, other than Wilhelm, whom I spoke of in the
preceding paragraph. He married Christina Luise Korff (nee Duckwitz).
After he died in 1897, his widow went to live with an Aunt Ricky
Duckwitz. She may have been a sister to Christina, but we are not sure.
I would like to find out the relationship here if possible, so any
information on them would be appreciated.

Seeking information about DETTLOFF family, residing in Wayne County from
approximately 1872, spreading out to Macomb and Oakland Counties. My
gggrandfather was Charles (sometimes Carl) Dettloff. His wife is shown
as Elmira and Amelia on two different census records. He had 12 sons
and one daughter, Clara, who died at approximately 2 years of age. I
don't know the names of all the sons, but they included Charles (my
ggrandfather) (m. Nellie MABUS-children: John Charles, Mary,
Adolf(Otto), Emilie, William, Bessie(poss. known as Betty), Emil,
Norman, and Richard); Otto (m. Mag-children: Florence, Lilian, Edwin and
Norman); Grover (m. Esther-children: Claudius, Harood-I believe both of
these children died very young); Herman (m. Ida-children: Clarence,
Elmer and Edith); William; Max; Reinhardt; Emil (m. Margaret); Paul and
Richard. I grew up in Mt. Clemens, but have not lived there since
1973. I know the Detroit area is full of Dettloffs and that many of
them must share my ancestors. I know that some other people share my
ancestors, as well. My great-aunt Mary married a Getty and my
great-aunt Betty married a HERMES. If anyone has information on this
family that they would like to share, please contact me.

I am trying to get some information on my great grandfather, James Henry SANDS. The most factual information that I have been able to gather is from a copy of his discharge papers from the U.S. Army dated 9 September 1862. It lists his place of birth as Romeo, Michigan and that he was 23 years old at the time of discharge. Other resources indicate that his date of birth was 9 July 1838. Yet another resource shows his home of record as being Almont, Michigan.
Is it possible to determine from county records the validity of this information? Is it possible to determine information on his parents? i.e. names, places and dates of birth.
