INDEX TO TWO BLACK MARRIAGE BOOKS

Transcribed by Joy Mack October 28, 2000. Data taken from two books found in the Clerk's office in the Trimble County Courthouse, Bedford, Kentucky.

Transcriber's note:
Both books are dated after the Civil War.
The first book is the oldest and is falling apart. Efforts are being made to save this book.

Book One dates from April 1866 to 1881. All entries are hand written. On the cover is hand written 'Colored Marriage Book'. The pages are not number. So, for finding data easier, I have numbered the entries. At the end of these records are a few entries that were not marriage bonds. Five are declarations of living together, 1 Consent letter, and 1 Affidavit.

Book Two dates from December 1873 to March 1911. This book is a standard marriage bond form book. On the cover is written 'Marriage Bond Book Blacks'.
