Antrim County, Michigan

The land of the free ... the home of the brave.
God Bless America!

Antrim County, in the north west corner of Michigan's lower peninsula was formed March 8, 1843 from its parent county, Cheboygan. It was originally named Megesee County, but was later renamed after County Antrim, in Ireland. Antrim consists of 476 square miles with a population of 16,194 (based on the 1989 statistics). It is bordered on the west by Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan and is one of the state's most popular recreation areas. This region was once famous for its iron processing.

My name is Margaret Pecar Fallone and I am the person responsible for maintaining the Antrim County page. I am pleased to present the resources of two excellent organizations, the USGenWeb Project and the American Local History Network. Combined with their resources as well as the resources you will find on the Antrim County Michigan genealogy page, I hope to make your search for your ancestors and the history that surrounded their lives, an easier and informative one. If you would like more information on, or wish to adopt a USGenWeb Michigan county, please contact Jan Cortez -Michigan project coordinator for further information. And please visit the American Local History Network too, for it's wonderful collection on Michigan history.
