Boone & Scenic Valley Add FP9 Unit

23 June 2003 -- In recognition of Edmonton's Centennial Celebration in 2004, the Canadian National has donated ex- Algoma Central FP9 #1753 (nee CN 6514) and #1762 (nee CN 6614) to the Alberta Railway Museum. It is believed that the museum will return the GMD-built cab units to their original CN green / black / yellow livery and numbers. (Alberta Railway Museum press release, via LocoNotes).

Boone & Scenic Valley Add FP9 Unit

11 June 2003 -- Late in October 2002, the Boone & Scenic Valley began operating a FP9 in regular service. The EMD is ex-Canadian National 6540 and has painted into the Chicago & Northwestern Livery (James Duff).

Algoma Central FP7 Sold to WCRA

21 September 2002 -- Algoma Central's popular F-unit fleet is being disbanded by owner Canadian National. The first to go is FP7 #1756 which was sold to the West Coast Railway Association; the four-axle passenger unit arrived in British Columbia in July. The Canadian-built locomotive was originally CPR #4103 (later #1404); it will be re-united with sister locomotive CPR #4069 which is also on the WCRA. (WCRA press release).

FL-9s Arrive on Morristown & Erie

7 August 2002 -- Four of the six FL-9s that were recently purchased by the Morristown & Erie from Amtrak have been delivered to the M&E. Numbers include the 484,

Algoma FP7 Sold

20 July 2002 -- Algoma Central FP7 #1756 has been sold to the West Coast Railway Association of Squamish, BC. Built in 1953, the GMD covered wagon was originally Canadian Pacific Railway #1404 (nee 4103). WCRA also owns GMD-built CPR FP7 #4069. (Bruce Mercer via LocoNotes).

Indiana & Northeastern Acquires GP30s

21 May 2002 -- Larry's Truck & Electric GP30 lease units #2185 and 2230 were sold to the Indiana & Northeastern in August of last year and are now running on the old Hillsdale trackage in southern Michigan. (Nick Nordmann).
