Stewart Family Cemetery

This cemetery is located on the Robert B. Stewart farm in Trimble County KY on US 421, one mile north from the Henry County line. It is a small cemetery enclosed in a chain link fence, a short distance behind the present farm house. It is well kept and flowers and shrubs are planted there.

The first known burial there is that of Duncan Stewart, the seven year old son of John Williamson Stewart. The date of death is 1868. Twenty graves are known to be located in this cemetery and there are sixteen upright stones. The largest stone, approximately five feet tall, is that of John W. Stewart of Hiawick, Scotland, born 17 May 1809 and died 18 November 1885. On the same stone: Jane Duncan Stewart, wife, born 3 March 1826 died 13 May 1903; "The Lord is my Shepherd" is also inscribed on the stone. The five underlined names below are the children of John W. Stewart and Jane. Five other children were born to this union, died earlier and buried elsewhere. Thank you to Bob Stewart for this information.
