VARBLE, Laura Wheeler, 92, died 18 Jan 1950, near Hanover, IN, burial IOOF Bedford. b. Trimble Co. 28 Apr 1858, d/o Joshua and Mary J. Bell Wheeler. m. JOHN LEWIS VARBLE, moving to Oldham Co. until his death. Survived by 3 sons, Shelby, Gilbert and Byrd Varble. One son died at age 4 years. Note: Correction, Laura was d/o Joshua and Mary J. Bell Wheeler. Kathryn Clifford Varble was grandmother of John Lewis Varble.

VINCENT, Rev. Belar Thomas, 90, Madison, interred 26 Oct 1959, ____. A Baptist Minister for 50 yrs served about half that time in Trimble Co., was pastor in Milton for years. Survived by son, Thomas P. Vincent, a sis. Mrs. A. S. Johnson. Preceded by wife SUSIE in 1954.

Had been in military service for years and active service in Korea where he was wounded in action. s/o late Jasper and Nellie Underwood Welch. BYER (DYER?) at Bedford, 6 ch., a son Daniel Bruce Welty died 16 Feb 1920, age 16 yrs. Survived by wife, 4 sons, Frank, Charles, Carl and Richard Welty, a dau. WELTY, ( Lillie. ) 72, d. ca 29 Sep 1957, Arnold, Neb., burial there. Former resident of Trimble Co. lived in Neb. for the last 40 yrs. Died while visiting her son in New Albany, IN. WENTWORTH, Alva, 56, died 12 Jun 1956, burial IOOF Bedford. s/o Jesse and Emma Stroupe Wentworth, b. Trimble Co. spent all his life in the Bedford area. Survived by wife GENEVIEVE STEPHENSON WENTWORTH, m. 20 May 1919, 2 dau., Mrs. Clemma Petit and Wilma Jean Wentworth, 2 sons, Sgt. Walton and Vyrel Wentworth, 7 bro., Allen, Ralph, Frank, Jesse, Howard, Carroll and Raymond Wentworth.

WENTWORTH, Jesse Combs, 82, died 7 Nov 1953, burial IOOF Bedford. s/o Joseph Allen and Anna Davis Wentworth, b. Trimble Co. spent his entire life here except for 1 year spent in Boone Co. where he met and married EMMA DEAN STROUP on 14 Mar 1891, she died in 1930. 9 boys were born, all living except the oldest, Shirley who died in infancy. Surviving are: Alva, Frank, Raymond, Allen, Howard, Ralph, Carroll and Jesse, Jr. Wentworth. m. 2nd 1931, MRS. NANNIE MERIWEATHER who survives, also 3 bro., 3 sis., and 4 step-children.

WENTWORTH, Joseph Stevenson. 80, died 19 Jan 1956, burial IOOF Bedford. s/o Joseph A. and Ann Wentworth, b. Trimble Co. moved to Indiana in 1939. m. NANNIE TILLEY in 1899, survived by 4 ch., Gilbert Wentworth, Mrs. Rollie Lynch, Mrs. Howard Roberts and Mrs. Denzel Lowe, 2 sis., Mrs. Eliza Long and Mrs. Elmer Handlon, 2 bro., Ernest and Ezra Wentworth. Preceded by 2 ch., 2 bro., and 4 sis.

WHEELER, Betty Martin, 87, interred 16 Aug 1958, IOOF Bedford. Came to Trimble Co. when quiet young from Henderson Co., KY. Spent most of her life in the Bedford and Hickory Grove com. Survived by 5 sons, Gilbert, Roy, Henry, Walter and Alton Wheeler, a sis. Mrs. Margaret Abbott, a bro. Steve Martin. Preceded by 3 ch., Martin, Maud and Brewer Wheeler. Note: Her husband was J. D. Wheeler, who died 1933 and a dau., Beulah Whitely died 24 Jul 1938.

WILEY, Oscar Bervius "Pat," 80, d. 26 Jul 1958, burial IOOF Carrollton. b. Trimble Co. s/o Hannah Elizabeth Spillman and George W. Wiley. At the age of 5 the family moved to Carroll Co. He was preceded by wife in Dec 1947 and a son, James Edward Wiley died 1943. Survived by 6 children, Mrs. Jeanette Robertson, Ernestine Demint, Harold Lloyd, Patrick Henry, Norman A. and Noel B. Wiley.

Preceded by wife, WILLIE HOWARD WISE, died ( 13 May 1933,) a sis. and 3 bro. He was the last of his immediate family.

WISE, Lee Roy, 73, died 2 Oct 1955, burial Moffett Cem. (b. 4 Feb 1882, s/o James and Margarete Paul Wise.) Native of Franklin Co., KY, located in the Milton area 58 yrs ago. m. the former LYDIA HENRY in 1912, she died 19 years ago. Survived by son, Buford Wise, a bro., James Wise.

WILLIAM WOOD, survived by 3 dau. and 5 sons, Mrs. George Miles, Mrs. Rebecca Bailey, Mrs. Marietta Noblett, George, Henry S., John K., Stephen and Edward Wood. Rev. Wood was a former well known Kentuckiana Methodist circuit rider.

Note: Correction: Charles and Amanda Kendall married 5 Jan 1897. Her dates, 25 May 1866 - 18 Sep 1907.

Survived by ch., Mrs. Hazel Gray, Mrs. Nellie Lee, Mrs. Bessie McDole, Wilfred, Evans, Daniel, Delmer, Harold and Wilmer Wright. Note: Jerome 1st m. Jul 1895 to CLARA ELLEN GRAY, his 2nd m. YAGER, J. C., near 90, died 22 Mar 1951, Charlestown, IN, burial IOOF Bedford. Would have been 90 on 20 Jun. He was a store keeper at Wise's Landing, moved to Louisville in 1917 and to Ind. a year later. s/o J. M. Yager, m. ANNA FORSEE, 3 ch., after her death he m. SALLIE WISE of Wise's Landing.
